Still on the Obama Watch

How can the mass media representations of the Obamas as a family, and of the President and First Lady as individuals, on television and in magazines, contribute to a more positive socialization of other African American women and men? Why are their images important and useful in comparison to the racial stereotypes that exist, as well as in relation to strict and separate social roles of male and female behavior?

Well... I think that the media so far does a very good job on giving a positive representation of the Obamas as a family and individuals. Of course there are the negatives, but mostly I think that racial stereotypes have lessened. People are looking at the black race more positvely each and every day. If people read up about Michelle Obama they instantly realiz she is an outstanding woman. Educated, Intelligent, Caring, and of course beautiful =). This goes to show that she is not only right hand woman to Obama, but also and independent lady who has achieved her own individual goals as a succesful Black woman.
